Older section of the bookshelf

Life is changed by small incidents. On Sunday, October 26th, 2014, I rushed in from the rain and sat down. The rainy weather felt like a good enough reason to start writing a blog. My first blog. It just needed a name. So I turned my head to right, towards the bookshelf, to look for inspiration.

That black book on the right I bought 25 years ago somewhere in California. Stanford University Bookstore, I think.  The Competitive Advantage was a good buy. It strongly affected my life, and it still seems to do that.

Now having the name for my first blog, Competitive X, I look forward for the contents. About competitive advantage and customer experiences. By Jussi Kapanen. And hopefully by you who start a dialogue with me.

And who is Jussi? I became a usability missionary in mid-1990s, later an advocate of superior user experiences. I have been responsible for usability, user interface design and user experience activities in global technology companies, and I have done my best to improve users’ life.  And to change the objectives of some thousands of colleagues.  Thanks to Porter and his colleagues, I still consider myself more as a business strategist than a UX professional. For me, UX is not the goal itself but the means to competitive advantages.

If you feel the same, read my posts and reply. If you don’t, please read my posts and reply.
